Requirements :

In order to run ExpressionEngine your web server must support:

• At least 10 MB of space
• PHP version 4.1 or newer.
• MySQL version 3.23.32 or newer.
• PHP must have XML support.

Installation :

Step 1: Create a MySQL Database

Select “MySQL Database” on your Web Hosting Control Panel.

Choose a name for your new database.

Create a new user (see picture: “Add New User”) and add it to the new database (see picture: “Add User to Database”).

Step 2 : Upload the Expression Engine Files

1. Download the Expression Engine files from http://www.expressionengine.com.
2. Start an FTP program such as SmartFTP, Transmit, Fetch, etc. and connect it to your server.
3. Create a new directory on your server and upload the files from the EECore* folder into it.
(Note: Do not upload the following file and directory; they are only used for people performing an update from a previous version.)

Step 3 : Set File Permissions

You must set the following directories to 777:

• images/avatars/uploads/
• images/captchas/
• images/member_photos/
• images/pm_attachments/
• images/signature_attachments/
• images/uploads/
• system/cache/

Step 4 : Run the Installation Wizard

Point your browser to the ExpressionEngine Installation Wizard :

http://www.yourwebsite.com/your_expressionengine_folder/install.php.

When you are finished delete the install.php file from your server. Leaving it on the server is a security risk.

In this tutorial I am going to show you how to cut out images.
This is a really easy and professional way to cut out images in Photoshop.

Step 1 :

Choose a picture that you want to cut out. I’m using a picture from Stock.xchng :

Step 2 :

Set the Foreground color to Black and the Background color to White.

Step 3 :

Unlock the layer (see picture).

Step 4 :

Add a layer mask to your photo.

Step 5 :

Select the brush tool and set your Master Diameter to 10px and your Hardness to 0%.

Step 6 :

Zoom in and use the brush tool to outline your image.
You can hold down the shift button for long straight areas.

Step 7 :

When you’re done, hold down OPTION (or ALT for Windows) and CLICK (at the same time) the layer mask.
Your picture should now look like this..

Step 8 :

Select the Magic Wand tool and make sure Contiguous is checked and Anti-alias is not checked. Now click on the area you don’t want in the picture.

Step 9 :

Go to the the toolbar and go to SELECT > MODIFY > EXPAND and change it to 5px.

Step 10 :

Change the Background color to black and then press the Delete key

Step 11 :

When you’re done with this hold down Option (ALT for Windows) and Click at the same time on the layer mask.

You’re done!
